Champions Trophy Final at Edgbaston

India have been the team to beat from the start of the Champions Trophy and at Edgbaston yesterday it came down to the wire, but in the end changeable weather could not deny the young India team, a thoroughly well-deserved and overdue victory.

India have dominated from the start of the Series , they have been the team to beat. At the end, they remained undefeated.

The closest India previously got to taking the trophy was a joint win with Sri Lanka in 2002 resulting from similar weather conditions that nearly ruined yesterday’s final.

Cricket memorabilia has been sought throughout the series and we have an excellent collection of signed cricket bats, autographed scorecards, tour memorabilia and sports autographs.

In a rain-shortened encounter which saw India having to return to the pavilion 3 times during their innings England lost the match by 5 runs. The hosts having elected to field ended up chasing 129 for victory in a reduced 20 overs. England got off to a poor start, losing Skipper Alastair Cook to Umesh Yadav at the start of the innings. However, middle-order batsmen (Irish Captain) Eoin Morgan and Ian Bell both played a decent innings  bringing England within reach of victory but it wasn’t to be, once they were dismissed byJadega and Sharma respectively the rest of side needed runs fast, the batsmen were contained, and only one more boundary was hit compliments of Stuart Broad.

The Indian crowd were fantastic and many England fans feel it was this intense atmosphere that gave India the final edge.

The Ashes due to start another opportunity for cricket collectables from the most prestigious series of all!!

On the subject of ODI, it will be interesting to see if this actually is the last Champions Trophy in its current format.
