Record of Lord Hawke's Cricket Team in India 1892-93. Published by Redin & Co, 16 Trinity Street, Cambridge. [c1893?]. Very rare 28pp post tour booklet with frontispiece team portrait of the touring party. The booklet begins with a short introduction followed by the scores of the various matches played on the tour with the tour batting and bowling averages and centuries scored to the rear page. The booklet lacking the original front wrapper, retaining its rear wrapper and becoming loose, although complete and in good condition. A brown leather photograph album accompanies the booklet (5.5"x7.5") with title impressed into the leather in gilt 'India 1892-3' and contains seventeen sepia photographs taken on the tour, each mounted to the right hand side of the gilt edges card pages with handwritten titles to the facing page. The varied photographs show 'Lord Hawke's Cricket Team', the touring party in group pose wearing blazers, caps and boaters, 'All India Eleven v Lord Hawke's Eleven' being a group photograph of the two teams, 'Lord Hawke's Eleven v Agra', the team sitting on steps with various dignatories, some in pith helmets and various scenes of Indian life including the 'Darjheeling Railway', 'The Morning Bath, Allahbad', 'Our Native Boys', 'Parsee Women' sitting in the tents watching the cricket match, 'Nautch Girls', 'Jumrood Fort, Peshawur', 'Mausoleum, Futtehpor Sikri', 'The Fort, Lahore', 'Ted Leatham's Elephant' (A.E. Leatham [Gloucestershire] joined the tour late), 'View below Kinchen Junga', 'Street View Peshawili' etc. The photograph album in good condition, although lacking album spine paper and becoming disbound. A very scarce booklet and photograph album believed to have been printed for members of the touring party only. cricket sold for £17000
