David Warner and Steve Smith pose as they send a snap to cricket fan Piers Morgan

David Warner has rubbed salt into England's latest Ashes wounds as he celebrated Australia's fifth-day success in the second Test in Adelaide.

The vice-captain had seen his side weather the fightback from Joe Root's side to complete a resounding 120-run victory and he was quick to deliver news of the result to acquaintances on the other side of the world.

Piers Morgan was the first in the line of fire, as the MailOnline columnist received a direct message from the Aussie, pictured alongside his captain Steven Smith, asking the presenter how he was coping with the result.

And Warner was only too happy to point out the advantage the Aussies had gained from their coaching recruitment, posting the message: 'What a legend this bloke is,' beside their snap.

Warner completed his round of social media bragging with a solitary tweet of one line, stating: 'What a win. Bring on Perth. You beauty.'

Warner has every reason to be in bullish mood after Australia took a 2-0 lead in the series.

The third Test is in Perth, where Australia have not lost to England since 1978.

  • Ashes Cricket Barmy Army

Posted on December 6, 2017 by Selby

At close of play on Monday we headed straight to the Backyard Bar at the Adelaide Casino for our charity night in aid of the PCA Benevolent Fund. We were “Packed to the Rafters” and heard (former England spin bowler) John Emburey recall his favourite “Beefy” Botham and Phil Tufnell stories before “Funtime Tony” went through each England player’s song to great acclaim.

As the England team are staying in the Intercontinental Hotel next door there’s every chance they would have heard us! Allister Cook kindly gave us two of his AC 630 jumpers at the end of the Brisbane test to auction for charity here but after day one in Adelaide we got a call asking us to return them to him - as he was so cold!?
