  • Aussies take the edge at Lords

Posted on July 19, 2013 by Selby

Another brilliant day of Ashes cricket at Lords, full of  excitement, sports signings and an abundance of cricket memorabilia, It's definitely advantage to Australia thanks to Ian Bell completing the 19th Test century of his career. Having watched day one of the second Test, I personally wouldn’t read much into the collapse of Peterson and Trott these things happen!! wait for the second innings?

Ian Bell now proudly follows in the illustrious footsteps of  Jack Hobbs, Wally Hammond and Chris Broad by hitting 3 (Hobbs actually did it twice)  Ashes centuries in 3 consecutive matches.

Bell was on great form when he walked down the pavilion steps with England on 28/3, it is just a shame that Jonathon Trott was unable to follow through on his splendid 58 run innings.

Mustn't forget Jonny Bairstow’s 67 runs which nearly never happened when he escaped with his wicket from a Peter Siddle no ball delivery.

it is a shame more runs were not scored as the weather was perfect and the  dry pitch seeming full of potential. it was an opportunity to see new faces as both sides had made necessary  changes for the Lords Test, with Usman Khawaja and Ryan Harris joining the Australia side replacing  Cowan and Starc, and Bresnan controversially in my opinion replacing Steve Finn. (we may well miss his bowling!!)

I am hoping a couple of signed cricket bats (tourists) will made available on Saturday!!!! If the England openers make a job of it with the new ball on Friday morning it could become a memorable Test series which is what Cricket Memorabilia is all about

I will be making an early start to take a birds eye view in the Warner Stand!!

  • England v New Zealand at the Ageas Bowl

Posted on June 3, 2013 by Selby

With the Champions Trophy only around the corner a seriously depleted England side were defeated in the ODI Series, by the Black Caps yesterday for the second time in three days. Without their two front line bowlers Stuart Broad and Steve Finn, England went down by 86 runs leaving the Tourists Series winners with one match left to play.

Cricket Memorabilia and signings have taken place over the latter part of May resulting in several signed cricket bats, plenty of cricket autographs signed scorecards and other collectables.

Hopefully England can find form in time for Champions Trophy starting this week as to do well here would be a boost going into the Test with Australia starting a Trent Bridge on July 10

I must say the odds PP are offering on Australia at Nottingham look a very attractive 3/1

The Champions Trophy warm up’s have been underway at Birmingham since last Thursday,  on  Saturday  India v Sri Lanka, India played well and could be emerging as contenders for the title. However it is much too early to draw conclusions, this match was not a formal ODI, the teams had agreed to play fifteen aside and Sri Lanka looked as though they were conserving their batsman for the real thing.

Cricket memorabilia is very popular when associated with the Champions Trophy and has a fan base almost as popular as the Sheffield Shield in Australia.

With the first match, group B, is due to start on 6 June at Cardiff India v S Africa, England (group A kick off against Australia at Edgbaston on Sat the 8th, so let’s hope that England can put this skirmish with Kiwis  behind them and concentrate on this last (in this format) Champions Trophy.

With no previous win in a major 50 over international and coming straight from their

2 -0 defeat by New Zealand a lot of pressure will be on Eoin Morgan who is replacing match winning (on occasions)  batsman Kevin Peterson.

Incidentally we have an excellent International signed cricket bat which has just come in see the link.

  • Nick Compton Cricket Memorabilia

    Ominous sign for the Kiwis
    Nick Compton Cricket Memorabilia
New Zealand v England at Wellington 1st Innings
As I said earlier in the week watch Nick Compton at Wellington and Eden park sure enough he puts in another match winning performance scoring score, back to back centuries in both Dunedin and Wellington.
The Kiwis seem to have misjudged the wicket putting England in to bat
Cricket Memorabilia associated with Compton will be sought after in the future and now is a good time to start collecting.
Jonathon Trott did not disappoint with 121 and it seems as if Peterson could soon be back to the big scores having clocked up 73 runs before becoming left arm spinner Bruce Martins second wicket.
Keeper Matt Prior added another 82 from 99 balls, caught Wagner bowled by Williamson, England ended the Innings on 465 all out.
At time of writing NZ are already in trouble at 66/3 with Broad 2 wickets for 18 runs and Anderson 1/17, some good bats to come in so hopefully they can make an interesting match.
Nick Compton looks in with an excellent chance of selection, for the forthcoming Ashes Series starting on July 10th at Trent Bridge, any Cricket Autographs, Signed Tour Itineraries, official Signed programmes and scorecards are well worth collecting.

    Scorecard to date
